The Voice of the Youth Project was invited to give a keynote motivational speech during a Black History event in Albany High School. We were able to tell our life story and share the message that anyone can find within themselves the phenomenal power to push through adversity. We are deeply honored for this opportunity, and we met many incredible people along the way.

The event was organized entirely by two amazing individuals: Alexia Ritchie (former executive director of student services and former principal of Albany High School) and Dr. Frank Wells, the former superintendent of the Albany Unified School District. We are deeply saddened by the recent passing of Dr. Wells, who passionately advocated for education and youth empowerment over the course of 30+ years. His heartfelt impact intimately extends across Alameda County and he is dearly remembered by all his students.
